Ed's Notes: So... Funny story... My girlfriend's daughter is a huge fan of the Flash TV Series. And when we first started dating, it was our mutual love of comic book stories that first got us talking. So I mentioned that I've got a couple of the old DC Archives books, and if she'd like to read some of the original Flash comic books form the 1960's, I could being them by. So I do, and, of course, she laughing her ass off at how goofy the comics of the 60's were. Because... Well, come on let's face it, they were pretty "cringy," as she put it. And the very first flash villain was THIS GUY. Now... on the TV SHOW the Turtle had this cool power to slow down time. It froze everyone else, and even made the Flash, at full speed, really slow. And in the more recent comics, he's got... gadgets, or something. But in the original incarnation, he had none of that. In fact, his "superpower?" Was being SLOW. Seriously. The issue was billed as "The Fastest Man on Earth vs. the Slowest Man on Earth." And he won basically by standing in front of walls that the Flash (who could not control his power as of Issue #1) would basically run into. But her reaction to this was priceless. In additional to (like I said) laughing her ass at how goofy the whole idea was, she was like, "His POWER is being SLOW?! That's not a superpower, that's more like a disability!" We both think the TV version is way cooler. ;)
