Ed's Notes: This is a bit of a weird one, who's full history could be difficult to integrate into a present day campaign.  She's Alfred's niece. OK so far. But her mother was none other than Mademoiselle Marie, hero of the French Resistance in WWII. Since Alfred himself is not French, I assume the relation is by marriage. And in early eighties, when she first appeared th
is origin and backstory made sense, as could easily be in her early-to-mid 30's. But NOWADAYS it would be absurd. Even if MM was her Grandmother, she would still be pushing 50.  And... that's... fine, I guess? It just seems like her character should be younger than that.  BUT, if you want to expand the Bat-family a bit? Here's a character for you! Integrate her however it makes sense to.

Oh, and I spotted her a Camera the equivalent of Jimmy Olsen's and a .38 Pistol from the 3rd Edition Rulebook, page 123.  Reading some of her appearances, she had these things at times.

Ed's Notes: Casting Morgan Freeman as Fox in the Dark Knight trilogy was an inspired  choice. I don't know that I would carry that characterization into the game (because, fuck me, I'm no Morgan Freeman, right?!) but it definitely worked and gave the character some depth and gravitas that might have been missing with a different actor.

Alter Ego: None
Motivation: Upholding the Good
Occupation: Social Worker
Wealth: 4

Ed's Notes: Dr. Thompkins encountered a young Bruce Wayne in Crime Alley shortly after his parents were killed. She acted as his legal advocate and guardian for a time and (along with Alfred) was a surrogate parent for Bruce for many years. She currently treats  the poor and homeless of Gotham from her practice in Crime Alley.

Int:   2   Will:  4   Mind:    6
Infl:  2   Aura:  4   Spirit:  6
Initiative:  9  Hero Points:  60

Powers:
Growth: 1
Skin Armor: 4

Limitations: Growth is Always On.

Drawbacks: Miscellaneous: Must consume massive amounts of food and drugs to maintain his strength and stamina. After 10 rounds of battle, or 9 AP's of time doing strenuous activity, he must make an action check with his Body/Body against his Body/Body. Failure requires him to rest for 14 AP's of time, or suffer -2 Column shifts on all Physical Dice Actions. He can avoid this with drugs (stimulants, steroids) but he gains Catastrophic Rage and suffers a Poison Touch attack of 8/8 against his Body/Body. For every day he does not eat 5 times the amount of food that a normal human would, he loses 1 AP of Strength, down to a minimum of 4; Serious Rage

Alter Ego: Roland Desmond
Motivation: Psychopath
Occupation: Criminal
Wealth: 3

Ed's Notes: Both Stronger AND weaker than his brother, Mark.

Drawbacks: Catastrophic Rage

Alter Ego: Mark Desmond
Motivation: Unwanted Power
Occupation: Former Chemist
Wealth: 5

Ed's Notes: This is a very conflicted guy. He has a Heroic Motivation, but he is a villain due mainly to his rage, which could be calmed by Bruce Wayne or his brother, Roland.  Also, while it doesn't call it out, I believe that his Growth is Always On and already figured into the stats above.

Ed's Notes: The only difference in 2nd edition is that they don't include her Camera, and the Batman RPG also omits her Artist (Photographer) Skill... Both of which are odd... Seeing as how that's what she does.  The Batman Sourcebook also gives her:

Advantages Connection: Gotham Gazette (Low)

Here's a question for you to ponder: Who's the better photographer: Vicky Vale, Jimmy Olsen or Peter Parker? ;)

Ed's Notes: This is the slightly nerfed (though not really) version that was updated in the 3rd Edition.  A couple of changes that I would make in game play:

Advantages: Connections: Nightwing (High), Superman (High); Sidekick (Robin)

Also, I would change his Justice League Connection to the Justice League of America.
