Ed's Notes: OMFG... ROTFLMFAO! Is there a single character in the game more stupidly overpowered that this guy?! I can not imagine an in-game scenario that could possibly present a PC playing the Golden Age Spectre with anything even remotely resembling an interesting challenge. TRIGON maybe. Maybe.  Yeah, the Golden Age Spectre was basically a god. And he was a founding member of the JSA! WHY?! WHY DOES THIS GUY NEED A TEAM?! Especially one with badass normals like Doctor Midnite, Wildcat and Sandman on it! What frickin' problem could this guy not solve all on his own with a snap of his fingers?! (Even including THAT problem!)

Now... I've read a bit of early All-Star Comics (the JSA's original title) and it occasionally shows things like a low level mook escaping from the Spectre on foot. It also shows very little of any power that warrants numbers like what's shown above. (He usually PUNCHES the bad guys.) (WITH AN 18/25?! SERIOUSLY?!) So it's certainly possible that the game over-powers him. But then... He DID once singlehandedly stand toe-to-toe with the Anti-Monitor, so... yeah, maybe not?

(And regarding that JSA note... Yeah, he should absolutely have Advantage: Connection: Justice Society of America (High)

Any usage of the Golden Age Spectre would HAVE to be limited to that of an NPC, as a stand-in for the Phantom Stranger, and his role in the modern age.

Ed's Notes: This is a demon born from the essences of Earth's mass murderers to work the will of Hell on Earth.  His form is mutable (hence the picture above, though he may not have actually appeared as ANY of them, he could) and he can appear as male or female as he wishes.

Ed's Notes: The single most bad-ass entity in the Detective Comics Universe, hands down. The PHANTOM Fucking STRANGER.  Few beings that don't have the word "Monitor" in their names even come close. 2nd Edition has him rather a bit nerfed, so I'm going to leave that for a separate page. Use THIS version. NPC only. And sparingly.

Ed's Notes: If you're going to be possessed, which DC does a LOT OF (Jason Blood, Kent Nelson) Corrigan could have end up a lot worse off than being possessed by the Spectre. At least he's super-powerful (nigh indestructible) and has similar goals and motivations as Corrigan, even if he still loses so much of his lifetime to the Spectre. Corrigan could be a fun guy to play, IF the PC played the reluctant-to-transform / fighting-the-possession part properly.

Sorcery: 12 (20, see below)

Skills:
Occultist: 18

Bonuses: Dimension Travel can be used to pull the victim into the Spectre's being. (see below)

Limitations: Power Restrictions: Dimension travel can only be used for travel to the Realm of the Just Dead and the Afterworlds, and Spectre must have access to a fresh corpse to use the power. Mind Probe only allows Spectre to divine the target's future intentions, and whether he is good or evil, unless Spectre actually "enters" the target's mind. (see below)

Advantages: Connection: Earth's Mystical Community (High), The Phantom Stranger (High)

Drawbacks: Catastrophic Irrational Attraction to punishing murderers; Strange Appearance

Alter Ego: James Corrigan

Motivation: Seeking Justice
Occupation: Avenging Spirit
Wealth: (5, Jim Corrigan's)

Special:
Inside the Spectre: The Spectre can pull people into his being, where the laws of reality are subject to his will.  This is resolved as a banishment attack.  Once inside, his Sorcery is rated at 20 AP, and he can spend Hero Points to increase his RV against any mystical bashing damage from it's use at this level.

Plumbing the Depths of Evil: Using Mind Probe, Spectre can enter the target's mind. This attempt require 1 RAP, using MP/MP vs. Int/Mind. Inside the victims Mind, the Spectre is slightly vulnerable: The victims gains the Sorcery Power linked to their Aura, to use against the Spectre while he's inside them. The Spectre maintains all of his normal powers and attributes,  but all Dice Actions are considered Strenuous, and have a +3 CS penalty to the OV/RV. To gain the information he seeks, Spectre must remain in the target's mind for a number of phases equal to the original attempt's RAP's, suffering attacks from the victim the whole time. If he exits early, he does not find the information he seeks.

Ed's Notes: Significantly beefed up from the 2nd edition, where he was nerfed from his Golden Age version, though his Golden Age version (in the World at War sourcebook) still has considerably more raw power.
