Powers:
Energy Blast: 13
Flight: 25
Lightning: 13

Skills:
Artist (Writer): 3

Limitations: Power Restriction: Some form of light must be present to use Flight Power. The amount of light in the area determines the speed at which he can fly: 8 AP's in moonlight, 15 AP's in overcast daylight, 25 AP's in full daylight. At night, can ride the beams of spotlights to reach enemy air targets quickly. When he does so, his speed is 20 AP's.

Advantages: Connections: Freedom Fighters (High), Press (Low)

Drawbacks: Secret Identity

Alter Ego: Langford "Happy" Terrill
Motivation: Upholding the Good
Occupation: Reporter
Wealth: 5

Source: World at War Sourcebook, pages 63-64
affiliation(s): All-Star Squadron, Freedom Fighters

Ed's Notes: This is the WWII-era / Golden Age version of the character, but could serve as a useful template for making the modern, his son (though grandson or even GREAT grandson might now make more sense, in-game) Ray Terrill version.

Freedom Fighters

The following charterers were members of the Freedom Fighters:

Black Condor
Doll Man
Firebrand
Firebrand II
Human Bomb
Phantom Lady
Ray
Uncle Sam

Jester

Ed's Notes: Like the joker, but he a good guy?  I wish they had statted out some of his gags... I mean... What would a cream pie to the face do to a Nazi?  How would the bank robbers be affected by the sneezing powder? Per GM's discretion and PC's Hero Poitn expenditure, I guess?

affiliation: Freedom Fighters

Ed's Notes: Wow. It's worth mentioning that the Golden Age / World at War characters almost NEVER have the "Unwanted Power" motivation, but HOW can that not be at least part of his?!  He swallowed the secret chemical he was working on (27-QRX) when the Nazi's attacked his lab, so that they wouldn't get a hold of it, and it turned him into a (the) Human Bomb. Can you image what would happen if that stuff WAS being used by, say... the JOKER?! Or really any guy with a bunch of easily manipulated mooks?! (Wait... Actually, that could be really FUN! I need to do that!)

Ed's Notes: The second Firebrand was the original's sister. Unlike her brother, she had actual Powers and took on the mantle while he was recovering in the hospital after the attack at Pearl Harbor.  She continued with the name even after he recovered.

Advantages: Attractive; Buddy ("Slugger" Dunn); Connections: Freedom Fighters (High), U.S. Armed Forces (Pacific Theater/Low); Intensive Training; Lightning Reflexes; Rank (Ensign)

Drawbacks: Secret Identity

Alter Ego: Rodney Reilly
Motivation: Thrill of Adventure
Occupation: Playboy
Wealth: 11

Source: World at War Sourcebook, page 51

Ed's Notes: The original Firebrand was a dashing swashbuckler in the Erol Flynn mold. He... also... seemed to wear a... transparent shirt? Also, "Slugger" Dunn is yet another of these interesting sounding buddy/helper characters (he was a former boxing champ, FFS!) that the WaW Sourcebook doesn't bother to stat out. I'll have to en devour to remedy that.

Ed's Notes: To be clear, this entry is for the Golden Age Black Condor. He can fly because after being orphaned he was raised by Condors.  Yeah.  And Thomas Wright was actually a guy (a U.S. Senator) who looked exactly like him and was murdered. While working the case, he assumed the murdered man's identity. And kept it. And... that guy was a U.S. Senator. Yeah... The Golden Age was weird.

Alter Ego: Theodore (Ted) Knight

Occupation: Wealthy Playboy
Wealth: 13

Source: 2nd Edition  Background/Roster Book, page 36; World at War Sourcebook, page 67

foes: Nimbus/Mist

Ed's Notes: Another entry that combines two sources. WaW omits the All-Star Squadron Connection and gives him just 70 Hero Points. The BG/R Book Omits the FBI and Freedom Fighters Connection and the Gravity Rod. (Which is really just a watered down version of the Cosmic Rod anyway.) (Lol... Cosmic Rod. As a PC, trying saying that over and over again with a straight face!)

Also the I, II... naming convention is not really needed here, as the Golden Age Starman has no connection to the modern Starman, but they are more alike than the two Sandmans (Sandmen?) and they could not have initially overlapped. (Will Payton was not alive during WWII!)

Sweet Alex Ross paiitning too, huh? Haven't had that many recently, but they're still so frickin' cool!
